Noosa Spit
Noosa Spit at the northern end of Noosa Heads is the most central and most popular dog beach in the Noosa region. Off-leash, calm and shallow water protected by the headland, and within walking distance of the Hastings Street cafe strip.
The spit itself is a narrow strip of land between the ocean and the river mouth. The beach faces the river side which creates exceptionally calm swimming conditions even when ocean swells are running.
Time restrictions apply. Check Noosa Council's website for current access rules before visiting as restrictions update seasonally.

Marcus Dog Beach, Peregian
Marcus Dog Beach in Peregian is the biggest stretch of dedicated off-leash dog beach in the Noosa region. Running from access points 38 to 47, it provides an enormous expanse of beach with genuine room to run.
The beach at Peregian is exposed ocean beach with more surf than Noosa Spit. Better suited to dogs that enjoy waves and running rather than calm swimming. The space is the key advantage, on a summer morning you can find genuine isolation even at this popular beach.
Peregian village has good cafe options for post-beach breakfast. The combination of an early morning run at Marcus Beach followed by breakfast in the village is one of the best Noosa region dog experiences.
Dog Life Jacket with Rescue Handle
A flotation vest with a top-mounted rescue handle and reflective strips. Even confident swimmers need one in unfamiliar or moving water. The handle lets you lift your dog out fast.

Sunshine Beach
Sunshine Beach at the northern end of the beach near the Noosa National Park boundary is wider and more open than Noosa Spit. Better for surf-loving dogs.
The beach culture at Sunshine Beach is slightly more local and less tourist-oriented than Noosa Heads which makes it a more relaxed experience. The Sunshine Beach Surf Club has outdoor areas where dogs are welcome.
Dog-Safe Sunscreen
A dog-safe sunscreen for noses, ears, and exposed skin. Light-coated and short-haired dogs sunburn easily in Australian conditions. Human sunscreen is toxic to dogs, this is formulated for them.

Noosaville foreshore
The Noosaville foreshore along the Noosa River is not a beach but deserves specific mention as one of the best dog walking experiences in the region. A flat, beautiful riverside walk with multiple cafe stops, boat hire, and a genuinely relaxed atmosphere.
Dogs are on leash on the foreshore but the quality of the experience makes this one of the top Noosa dog experiences regardless. A morning foreshore walk followed by breakfast at one of the Noosaville cafes is the perfect low-key Noosa dog day.
Practical tips
